YEAH BABY!! I don’t really have anything else to say. I’m just happy man! Happy and excited! But it’s cool… I’m cool… I don’t care that much….
Seasons 2 and 3 of my all time favorite anime, baby!!
Years ago, in the time between middle school and high school, I was up late watching TV. While Cartoon Network was my favorite station when at that time, I was never really a fan of Adult Swim. I understood all the crude jokes just fine, but Family Guy and American Dad and all that shite just had no appeal to me. So when Adult Swim came on that one night, I switched to Nickelodeon. After watching a few episodes of whatever show was on, I switched back to Cartoon Network to see what Adult Swim was showing. It was the very beginning of an anime, less than a minute in. I knew what anime was and had watched some from time to time on Toonami. You know, the usual Naruto and One Piece and Dragon Ball Z. Even though I wasn’t really and anime fan, I generally liked the shows Toonami would have on. So I decided to stick with the anime that was on Adult Swim that one night, an anime called FLCL. And oh boy… That anime was nothing like all the shounen anime I was accustomed to. Going from One Piece to FLCL was weird. But I liked it. No, I loved it!
It was the second episode, Firestarter. Where Mamimi, one of the main character, is obsessed with a handheld video game about an arsonist. Mamimi then sees a robot named Canti and thinks that he’s some god of fire. But nope, the robot is just a regular robot with a TV for a head. Oh, and this robot happened to sprout from the head of Naota, the protagonist of the anime. The robot originated from a bump on Naota’s head, a bump that came from him being hit on forehead by a vespa and a blue rickenbacker 4001. Both owned by a strange, pink-haired young adult named Haruko. So yeah, all pretty typical anime stuff. When I first watched the episode, however, I had no idea what the hell was going on. All the craziness made me completely forget the name of the anime though… But a year or two later, I found FLCL again on the internet. I watched all six episodes in a row that exact day. Even though I still didn’t know what was going on, I got hooked. Hooked on anime in general. All because of FLCL, which has become of favorite anime.
In fact, once I saw that the dub was on Hulu late last year, (literally the day after my mother paid for the subscription) I started watching it immediately. Being older, I actually understood it. For the most part… And I still loved it. So when a friend of mine told me that FLCL was getting not one, but TWO new seasons the other day… I got hyped as fuck, man! Almost as hyped as I got for Super Smash Bros Brawl! TWO NEW MOTHERTRUCKING SEASONS!!! Shit dude. But I gotta calm myself… I gotta wait for like two years. I just hope the new seasons are good. I gotta have hope!
